Robin Raspberry Grey

Today, I had the pleasure of sampling Birdsong Robin raspberry grey tea a beautiful organic tea. Upon initial assessment, I detected the aroma of fresh raspberries accompanied by a hint of orange peel. As I sipped the tea, the raspberry flavor emerged first, followed by the bright, citrusy notes of orange and bergamot. These flavors harmonized exceptionally well, with the robust yet balanced black tea notes providing a suitable backdrop for the raspberry, orange, and bergamot flavors. I added sugar to my tea, which enhanced the overall flavor profile. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this tea and can envision it as a refreshing iced tea. Lovers of flavored Earl Grey teas will undoubtedly appreciate this tea.

Yes it’s an Earl Grey, but for me the bergamot was surprisingly understated even with the 5 minute steeping time it received from me. I was surprised by the suggested range on the packet (7 minutes?!), but it was one of those very tolerant teas, and tasted delicious. Both the raspberry and orange notes came through beautifully, and overall it was smooth on the tongue.

I love that they name their blends after birds, particularly in honor of where ingredients in the teas come from - in this case, the European Robin, which apparently loves to hang out in Calabria’s bergamot groves!

Bonus: the tea is organic! Now that’s what I call a tea party!

Opening this Earl Gray with sweet raspberry essence the tea is bold and fragrant. The bergamot and sweet raspberry are both quite prominent. It is recommended to steep between 3-7 min. I steeped it on the higher end of the steep time for a full strength drew. The aroma and flavors of the bergamot and raspberry held up and continue to be bold throughout the cup. I really enjoyed this twist on Earl Gray Tea.

The Ingredients: Organic black tea, organic orange peel, organic safflower, natural essences.

At first look the tea has a gorgeous deep red, amber color with a comforting fruity aroma. The tea leaves are roughly crumbled with pretty bits of dried orange and safflower petals. Brewed, this tea is a smooth, rich black tea base with a bright citrus twist of sweet orange and fruity raspberry! The safflower adds a subtle floral note, but it’s the perfect balance for the sweet raspberry aroma and taste. This was a wonderful tea served hot but I think it would make a refreshing iced tea as well! I’ll be trying it on ice next!
